Pricing

Pay for the plane. Never the metal.

Your servers are billed by your own provider, at their price. A CA$8 droplet costs you CA$8 — and every figure here is in Canadian dollars.

01 / a real bill

Two invoices. No markup hiding in either.

The figure that matters is the total — including the compute you'd otherwise rent at someone's margin. Here it is, added up.

  • Compute billed by your provider, directly
  • Railyard bills only the control plane
  • Cancel and every app keeps serving

Questions

Pricing, answered plainly.

Do I pay for servers through Railyard?
No. Your servers live in your own cloud account and your provider bills you directly at their price. Railyard never resells compute, so there is no markup to find. A CA$8 droplet costs you CA$8.
What counts as a server?
Any Linux machine running the Railyard agent, whether Railyard provisioned it through your provider's API or you attached a machine you already owned over SSH. Cordoned servers still count while they are connected; a detached server does not.
What happens to my apps if I cancel?
They keep running. Your applications are ordinary containers on ordinary Linux servers behind a standard Caddy proxy. Cancelling ends your access to the control plane, not your infrastructure.
Are prices really in Canadian dollars?
Yes. Every plan is billed in CAD, so there is no exchange-rate drift between the price you read and the amount on your statement. Prices exclude GST/HST, which is applied at checkout based on your province.
Is there a discount for paying yearly?
Yearly billing is priced at ten months, so two months are free. The Team plan works out to CA$15 per server per month instead of CA$18.
Do you charge per app, per deploy, or for bandwidth?
No. Deploy as often as you like, run as many applications per server as the machine can handle, and serve as much traffic as your provider allows. The only figure that changes your bill is how many servers you connect.
Do you offer anything for open source or students?
Yes — open-source maintainers and students get the Team plan at no cost for up to three servers. Email us from an address that shows the connection and we will switch it on.
