Why deploy on Railyard
Railyard runs it standalone on a server you already pay for — no addons to provision, with zero-downtime deploys and scaling still included.
Deploying EMQX is one piece of a bigger stack you can keep building — add a database, a worker, a cache, or another app, all on the same servers you already pay for.
Good for
- MQTT messaging for IoT fleets and real-time device communication
- A self-hosted alternative to managed MQTT brokers (AWS IoT Core, HiveMQ Cloud)
- Pub/sub for mobile/web apps that speak MQTT over WebSocket
Good to know
- The community license covers a single node for internal use only — clustering or commercial/SaaS resale needs a commercial license
- MQTT ports (1883 plain, 8883 TLS, 8083/8084 WebSocket) aren't exposed by this template — only the dashboard on 18083 is. Devices connecting from outside Railyard's network need those ports exposed separately
