Why deploy on Railyard

Railyard provisions all 4 services in this stack together — jitsi-web, jitsi-prosody, jitsi-jicofo, jitsi-jvb — wired to reach each other over the private network, on a server you already pay for.

Deploying Jitsi Meet is one piece of a bigger stack you can keep building — add a database, a worker, a cache, or another app, all on the same servers you already pay for.

Good for

  • Self-hosted video conferencing for a team
  • Embeddable video calls without a per-minute SaaS bill

Good to know

  • Known gap: the videobridge needs UDP port 10000 published straight through with the host's public IP advertised for ICE, and Railyard's manifest has no UDP or host-networking field for that yet — the control-plane services come up, but calls won't get a working media path until that's solved outside this template
  • Every service here uses s6-overlay as its init system, which needs to gain privileges briefly while dropping from root at boot — Railyard's default no-new-privileges container hardening blocks that, so this template opts all four services out of it
