Community3 services
PeerTube, the federated, open-source video platform — host your own YouTube-style instance that joins the fediverse instead of a walled garden.

Why deploy on Railyard
Railyard provisions all 3 services in this stack together — peertube, peertube-db, peertube-redis — wired to reach each other over the private network, on a server you already pay for.
Deploying PeerTube is one piece of a bigger stack you can keep building — add a database, a worker, a cache, or another app, all on the same servers you already pay for.
Good for
- A self-hosted, ad-free video platform for a community or organization
- Federated video hosting that doesn't depend on YouTube's recommendation algorithm or monetization rules
Good to know
- Postgres and Redis are wired up automatically
- Video storage and config live on dedicated volumes — plan real disk space, since video hosting is storage-heavy
- Transcoding is CPU-intensive; PeerTube's own docs recommend at least 2 vCPU / 4GB RAM, more if several uploads transcode at once
- No email is configured — PeerTube's own setup flow still works without SMTP but password-reset and notification emails won't send until you add it
