Why deploy on Railyard
Railyard provisions all 5 services in this stack together — superset-db, superset-redis, superset, superset-worker, superset-worker-beat — wired to reach each other over the private network, on a server you already pay for.
Deploying Apache Superset is one piece of a bigger stack you can keep building — add a database, a worker, a cache, or another app, all on the same servers you already pay for.
Good for
- BI dashboards over an existing warehouse
- SQL Lab exploration for analysts
- Sharing charts across a team without a per-seat BI license
Good to know
- Postgres and Redis are wired up automatically, and the admin account is created for you by the release command
- Superset's own image ships no config file at all — it silently falls back to local SQLite/file-cache unless SUPERSET_CONFIG_PATH points at a real file. Each command (release, web, worker, beat) writes a small static superset_config.py to the shared superset-home volume before running — the file itself just reads the already-provided DATABASE_*/REDIS_* env vars at runtime, so there's no shell-escaping risk from secret values
