Checkmate
Community2 services
Open-source uptime, server hardware and incident monitoring with real-time status pages.
Deploy Checkmate Free plan, no card.
What you get
- All 2 services provisioned together: checkmate, checkmate-mongodb
- A community template, not yet verified end to end by the Railyard team
- Automatic HTTPS and zero-downtime deploys
How to deploy Checkmate
- 1
Connect a server
Attach a DigitalOcean, Hetzner or Vultr server to Railyard, or any Linux box over SSH.
- 2
Click "Deploy Checkmate"
Railyard builds the container and provisions all 2 services.
- 3
Set your domain
Point your domain at the app. Railyard issues an HTTPS certificate and keeps it renewed automatically.
Why deploy on Railyard
Railyard provisions all 2 services in this stack together — checkmate, checkmate-mongodb — wired to reach each other over the private network, on a server you already pay for.
Deploying Checkmate is one piece of a bigger stack you can keep building — add a database, a worker, a cache, or another app, all on the same servers you already pay for.
Good for
- Uptime and response-time monitoring for your own apps and servers, with status pages for customers
- Server hardware monitoring (CPU, memory, disk) across a small fleet
- A self-hosted alternative to a hosted status-page or uptime SaaS
Good to know
- MongoDB is dedicated to this stack, not a shared Railyard addon — Checkmate opens its own connection string and Railyard's shared Mongo addon has no per-app login
- JWT_SECRET is generated for you; set it the same on every instance if you ever split Checkmate across more than one server
- Monitoring a Docker daemon over TLS needs its own ENCRYPTION_KEY, set manually after deploy — socket-only Docker monitors and every other monitor type work without it
