Why deploy on Railyard
Railyard runs it standalone on a server you already pay for — no addons to provision, with zero-downtime deploys and scaling still included.
Deploying Kopia is one piece of a bigger stack you can keep building — add a database, a worker, a cache, or another app, all on the same servers you already pay for.
Good for
- Encrypted, deduplicated backups of files from other machines, pushed in via a Kopia client
- A self-hosted alternative to Backblaze/Duplicati-style backup services with a browsable web UI
- Centralizing backup snapshots from several servers into one repository
Good to know
- The release phase creates a filesystem-backed repository on the mounted volume the first time this app deploys; later deploys reuse it
- This template uses local disk as the repository backend — for off-box durability, connect a remote backend (S3, Backblaze B2, etc.) from the web UI instead of relying only on this volume
- Log in to the web UI with KOPIA_SERVER_USERNAME (admin) and the generated KOPIA_SERVER_PASSWORD; the repository's own encryption password is the separate generated KOPIA_PASSWORD
