Workers and scheduled jobs

The Workers tab offers only the job runners found in your repository: processes declared in Procfile/Procfile.dev/app.json, or runners from your dependencies (Sidekiq, Solid Queue, GoodJob, Resque, Celery, RQ, Laravel queue or Horizon, an npm run worker script). Add one in a click, or any long-running command yourself. Each worker runs the app’s image and scales on its own.

A worker-only app (no web process) can sleep too: set Sleep when idle under Settings → General and it stops once its reported CPU has been idle that long. Railyard wakes it on its own schedule to drain anything queued, then lets it go back to sleep.

Cron runs a command in the app’s image on a schedule (0 3 * * *), with run history.
